1 Day Devotional Change is Good - Mike Thakur

Although, the Bible is true when it communicates that God loves us just as we are, that doesn’t mean he wants us to stay that way for the rest of our lives. God wants us to be everything he created us to be and to walk in a friendship with him. just as Adam did in the garden each afternoon.

This 3 day devotional looks at the reasons why we need to change, and what that process involves to help us set a clearer expectation of the days ahead. If we’re really serious about pursuing God and becoming more like Jesus.

Start today by reading, 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8. It’s a famous passage about Love, but a while ago I did something as I was reading it that changed the way I view God. I read it over and replaced the word ‘Love’ with the word ‘God’. Go ahead, try it.  I’ll wait!

“God is patient, God is kind. He doesn’t envy, He doesn’t boast. He’s not proud. God doesn’t dishonor others, He’s not self-seeking, He isn’t easily angered, and keeps no record of wrongs. God doesn’t delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.

He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. God never fails.”

The Bible talks about God being love. It’s not an action or an effort, it’s not just something he does on occasion, or even chooses to do but rather, love is the very fabric of who he is. It’s his DNA. He can’t help but ooze love because as God, he’s dripping in it. Permanently.

Reading through the passage above helps us dig deeper into what that means. For me at least, it amplified the ways in which his love is visible and relatable to me. I might not be able to comprehend what a supreme being comprised of love looks like, but I can understand and believe in a God, who is patient and kind. He keeps no record of wrong etc. By visualizing God through the lens of love, my appreciation for who he is, grows and becomes less complicated.

Why is this important? As believers, we’re supposed to become more like Jesus as we grow in our faith. Sometimes, I lose track of how simple and straightforward that is. When really, all I need to do is spend time with him, focus on his word, and in prayer, so that I can surround myself with his love. Which in turn, he will continue the work in me, that he started the day I chose to believe in him.

As you go through your day today remind yourself that God always protects, keeps no record of wrongs and never fails.

Be amazing,
